Appearance Matters: Make sure you have good looking profile pictures, headers, Bio’s and links. It matters in terms of how people regard the quality of your account.
-
Be Consistent: Try to be consistent with when you tweet and how you tweet, conformity is a good thing
-
Make Good Use of Mentions: Name dropping is a good thing! The more people you mention, the more notifications your tweet will get, the more followers you will obtain and you will get noticed more often. People like to boast and they will display the account to similar yet different sets of people.
-
Control the Account Wisely: Don’t give access to everyone who wants it, that’s how it can become sloppy. Be sure the users all understand the rules to follow.
-
Follow theLeaders! Be sure to follow all the relevant news outlets or important figures that pertain, ex. @scifisportsguy, @bostonheraldhs, @bhallespn
-
Use Tags! Try to tag those same people in important tweets if you have room, they usually help spread the word.
-
A Picture Says 1,000 Words! Tweeting pictures is a good way to have better overall content.
-
“Be better, not bitter!” Warrick Dunn’s Mother: Stay above sniping at people who mention the account in a negative way, competitive banter is ok but nothing that reflects poorly upon you, the team, or your school.
-
Follow The League! Follow sister and brother accounts of other schools, they will return the favor and increase the accounts relevance
-
The More the Merrier! Try to get the team involved, have them draw attention to the account with shout outs and retweets.
