TYPED REFLECTION on the Secret: There were many ideas that were presented in this DVD. Some you may agree with strongly, others you may disagree with completely. The above outline highlights some of the ideas presented. Discuss the segments that impacted you the most.

The Secret

The Secret is a DVD that has been used in Psychology with the “Thought” unit. It has not been a part of the Sports Curriculum, but with the death of Kobe Bryant, it seems like it might be the right time to give it a tryout with the class of 2020. It was inspired by the events surrounding the death of Kobe Bryant.

  2. We all have so many thoughts that run through our minds throughout the course of the day. Some  thoughts might be:
    • Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? What will I do in the future? What’s for lunch? Who is on snapchat / twitter / instagram and other social media? In my lifetime, will everyday humans ever travel to the moon or Mars? Will I be happy? Am I reaching my potential? Who will be my college roommate? Where will I go to college? Who will I marry?

Viewing Questions:

  1. “Thoughts become things!”

Psychology Final Reflection

THE SECRET

  1. The secret is a unique philosophy on life. People accept the teachings to varying degrees. Some of the activities mentioned in the DVD are a gratitude list, a gratitude rock, vision board, “mood shifters” (music images, movies). Many of the ideas seem practical and useful.
    1. Describe the impact of the movie on your thinking and attitude. Do you try to use the secret in your daily life? Is there one specific example that you can share where the secret worked (Evan and the streak, Bish and Rockland, Sam Powers and lacrosse / college) or where it worked in a negative way (Doherty spilling his drink)?
    2. Explain your thoughts on the gratitude rock and the gratitude list. Are these activities still impacting you today? Are you using the gratitude rock? Are you more thankful for the things in your life?
    3. What about goals and the secret? Are you really trying to achieve the goals (and life list) you have set for yourself? Have you thought about your goal daily? Do you think creating a vision board might help?
